How to Remove Location Data from Photos
Your photos may reveal exactly where they were taken. Here is how to check and remove it.
Why location data is a risk
Phones store GPS coordinates in each photo by default. Anyone who receives the original file — by email, messenger or a cloud link — can see where it was taken, often down to a few meters.
Check a photo
Open the photo in the PhotoTools metadata viewer. If it contains location data, you will see the coordinates and a map link.
Remove the location
Use Remove EXIF to delete GPS and other metadata without changing image quality. On iPhone you can also turn off location for the Camera in Settings → Privacy → Location Services.
