How do I get the best results?
Use a sharp, well-lit photo taken straight on, with the text large enough to read. Crop away everything that is not text and choose the right language.
Can it read handwriting?
The recognizer is trained on printed text. Neat block letters often work, but joined-up handwriting is usually not recognized reliably.
Is it free?
Yes. Browser tools on PhotoTools are free, unlimited and work without an account.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device, and nothing is stored.
