Frequently asked questions
Why is my PNG so large?
PNG stores every pixel without loss. Photos saved as PNG are often 5–10× larger than the same photo as JPG or WebP.
Is reducing colors noticeable?
For screenshots, UI graphics and logos, 64–256 colors usually look identical. For photos, consider converting to WebP or JPG instead.
Should I convert my PNG to WebP?
For websites, yes: WebP keeps transparency and is typically much smaller. Keep PNG where maximum compatibility is required.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device, and nothing is stored.
